Fall is my favorite time of year for so many reasons (birthday!…pretty leaves!…pumpkin everything!), and the fresh TV schedule is just one more. I’ve always been a movie gal, but I fell in love with the fall TV season about a decade ago when I lucked into a very cool job in Los Angeles. I worked for a production company and our scripted department had copies of all the upcoming pilots to pass around the office for early viewing. Knowing nothing about “network upfronts” or that everyone and their brother could get a hold of these in L.A., I felt extremely VIP at the time. I no longer have access to the advance copies, but I still have just as much fun watching all the new shows when they finally air. I treat this like a full-time job; I watch every pilot (even the bad ones) and nip and tuck the whole schedule until I find my perfect DVR line-up for the next three months. It’s what I can only imagine fantasy football is like.
Since it can be a bit daunting, I’m breaking down the new schedule daily and sharing my top picks. Here we go…
The Voice (8/7c NBC) Gwen’s back this season, so the clothes should be fierce. And they just won an Emmy!
Dancing With the Stars (8/7c ABC) The season premiere was last week, but all you’ve missed so far is Gary Busey and his crazy. (Nick Carter is gonna own this thing.)
The Big Bang Theory (8/7c CBS)
Gotham (8/7c FOX)
Scorpion (9/8c CBS)
Castle (10/9c ABC)
NCIS: Los Angeles (10/9c CBS)
Minority Report (9/8c FOX) Based on the 2002 sci-fi film with Tom Cruise.
Life in Pieces (8:30/7:30c CBS) This could turn out to be a CBS version of Modern Family, but it has an interesting cast so I’m intrigued.
*Blindspot (10/9c NBC) This thriller is my pick of the night–pretty cast and a cool concept (amnesia + tattoo clues on body = WTF?!).
Ok, clear off the DVR’s and if you feel like you need to watch last week’s DWTS, you can do it here: http://abc.go.com/shows/dancing-with-the-stars
