Everyone has something they absolutely geek out about; the show you look forward to every week, that novel you’re eagerly awaiting from a sci-fi/fantasy legend, the latest album from a sultry chanteuse. You don’t have to camp out all night or start your own website to be a major fan (not that there’s anything wrong with that)…maybe it’s just the show you save to watch with your significant other each week and make promises not to take an early peek (ahem, Game of Thrones), or you call up your girlfriends and make a date to be in the same city to see the movie you’ve all been counting down to (Veronica Mars). It’s whatever excites you and makes the week/month/year a little sweeter.
Right now, the show I look forward to each week is iZombie on the CW. The writing is sharp and funny, and the extremely charming cast has great chemistry. I typically don’t care for procedurals, but Rob Thomas, who also created Veronica Mars, manages to make them interesting, witty, and modern. (No tired Law & Order/CSI mysteries here!) Both Veronica Mars and iZombie are worth a look if you haven’t seen them–go find them!
My other current obsession is Manhattan on WGN America. The acting on this show is in a class of its own. If you’re a history buff, you’ll absolutely love it–the attention to detail with costumes, props, and sets is insane. It’s a fascinating take on this moment of history, with layered characters and storylines.
If you’re too busy to start another show during this hectic holiday season, file those away for a long, binge-worthy weekend–I promise you won’t be disappointed!
