Tell me about it, stud.

Finally! Grease: Live is happening this Sunday night at 7/6c on FOX! It’s pretty hard to mess up one of the best high school musicals of all time, and the casting feels inspired, so I have high hopes.  (Also, Thomas Kail, the director of a little Broadway show called Hamilton, is directing. So, yeah.) If Julianne Hough gets this right, I will forgive her for Footloose and all other sins.

Here’s Jessie J singing the title track for the upcoming live show…you know, just to get your Monday morning going.

January is winding down, but new shows are still popping up. If you’re snowed-in, you’re going to need lots of programming:

Lucifer does not look fabulous, but yowza, Satan is hot. (I’m sorry…I regretted that immediately.) It premieres Monday night on FOX, and it may have already lost me over the premise: Lucifer helps a pretty cop solve murders.

Syfy’s The Magicians looks more promising for Monday.  Based on the fantasy trilogy by Lev Grossman, this feels like hipster Harry Potter to me, but I’m okay with that. They had me at “levitating sex”.  (Intrigued? You can watch the first episode online here.)

If you love you some shows about “Mountain People”, you’ll probably want to check out the new WGN America show, Outsiders, which premieres Tuesday. I do not.

Suits has its midseason premiere on USA Wednesday night.

The award for clunkiest title ever goes to You, Me and the Apocalypse, premiering on NBC this Thursday. This looks like it’s all over the place, judging from the few promos that suddenly popped up a few weeks ago, but I really want to see what Jenna Fischer (The Office) and Megan Mullally (Will & Grace) do with it. Also, exactly how much money is Rob Lowe making these days?!

And if you don’t have Award Season fatigue yet, TBS and TNT are airing the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (aka SAG Awards) this Saturday at 8/7c. More pretty dresses, more over-the-top speeches!

FYI: There were also some time slot changes this week:  Hell’s Kitchen and Second Chance swapped nights on FOX. (See my midseason TV page for up to date info.)

Also, The Vampire Diaries and The Originals return this week and move to Fridays.
