New shows are still cropping up, but we’re now approaching the end of the traditional network television season, with finales piling up over the next few weeks. This used to mean bland summer programming and reruns, but those days are over with 24/7 streaming and the constant addition of shows, regardless of what month it is on the calendar. So, if you thought you were going to run out of things to watch, don’t worry; if you thought it might be nice to have a little TV break….well, I’m sorry.
12 Monkeys returns for season 2 on SYFY at 9/8c. As for season finales, there are three big ones tonight: Supergirl, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and Better Call Saul.
The Night Manager, based on the 1993 John le Carre novel, debuts on AMC at 10/9c. This six-part spy miniseries starring Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, and Elizabeth Debicki is one of the big draws for me this week because I love anything spy-related, but (complete honesty) mostly for the deliciously talented Tom Hiddleston. Take a look:
Also tonight: the season finale of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and the debut of another miniseries, Containment, on the CW at 9/8c.
Broad City season finale.
Season 4 of Inside Amy Schumer starts tonight at 10/9c on Comedy Central, and I can’t wait to laugh/cringe!
A little show called Game of Thrones is back, in case you hadn’t heard about it yet. No big deal, just a few cliff-hangers to sort out from the end of last season. I’ve been missing it as badly as the rest of the world, so I might be splurging on HBO NOW sometime this week. If you haven’t seen this trailer yet, try not to pee your pants…
Silicon Valley and Veep also return to HBO on Sunday night at 10 & 10:30.
FYI: DIRECTV and AT&T U-verse are doing another free preview weekend for HBO and Cinemax, April 22-25. Binge all the free movies and shows you can!
